Meredemax,
I really think that Ginger did not see Pixie as a "kitty cat", as we call them (Ginger and I

). She would lick her chops and hold stock still and only move her eyes and try to pick up the kitten like she was going to cart it off somewhere to eat it. It REALLY creeped me out, the way she was acting. And God forbid the kitten would MOVE. She was after it, no doubt.
Well, Saturday (or Friday??) night I got out the treats and she was completely focused on me and the treats so I very, very carefully kept the situation under control and kept telling her "Good girl leave it kitty cat". I know, my son tells me that it sounds like caveman talk but the dog knows darn good and well what it means because for one, she is smarter than any canine I've ever seen and two, we have 4 other cats and she needs to be told to leave Jasmine alone on occasion.
Then on Sunday night I let the kitten out to run while Ginger was in her crate and I did notice that for once she was not whining at all when she normally whines the ENTIRE TIME the kitten is out

! So yesterday I was telling my friend that I got the kitten from that I didn't think it was going to work out because it was going to take too much time before the kitten got big enough that Ginger would consider leaving it alone. So I go to "demonstrate" how Ginger licks her chops and her whole "I'm having kitten for lunch" routine and let Ginger out with the kitten. I'm by the kitten getting ready to defend it but Ginger sees the kitten and runs over to my friend instead (because she loves her) and ignores the kitten for at least a minute

. And when she does decide that she's had enough of my friend and wants to check out the kitten her body language was that of curiosity and her exp
ression on her face total sweetness :what: . Then she very gently started playin with the kitten.
She played with her a lot yesterday but today is completely bored by her. The kitten did stick her face once with a claw and that turned her off for a while yesterday but she did finish out the day playing with her and they were both very tired last night.
I personally think that Ginger did not recognize her as a cat and that all the "leave it kitty cat'"s that I did it just sunk in. That's my theory or maybe she just got used to her super quickly. But really, Ginger is such a pleaser that I would not be surprised if she quit it just because I told her so and she wanted to please her mommy. Every time she was playing nicely I would tell her "good girl" and she would come over for her attention. Of couse I was FAUNING all over her with praise!!
Good luck and I wish you a quick resolution to the problem. I know what it's like to feel like it's a MOUNTIAN to climb to get it resolved. I think I was lucky that it was that quick!
