It was a beautiful weekend here. I did a lesson on Saturday and it went fairly well.

Yesterday I went out to the paddock and called to Charlie - he perked his head up, saw me and came right over. Although I'm sure he thinks of me as the treat lady, it made me feel great :D

Then we just had a fantastic ride. We still don't do a lot, I'm still working on my balance and control at walk/trot, especially moving him through corners which he finds "scary". But everything I asked for yesterday he gave me. And it felt so good!

The horses are loving this beautiful weather, although he did come in absolutely covered in burrs on Friday. His tail was a big rat's nest of burrs. My daughter offered to comb it out (using baby oil/water spray) in exchange for a ride for her and her friend to pick up dinner, go to the liquor store on Friday night (they're both of age, but had no car and were stuck at the barn). Seemed like a fair deal ;)

sounds lovely. the dogs and i were at a state park sunday and saw two trail rides. one palimino stopped and stared at us. i felt he really wanted to meet the dogs but he had a novice rider who was a little nervous about us. still. lovely to see them.

Yes! I was not even looking for a horse when we saw him advertised for sale and decided we should at least go "have a look" since he sounded too good to be true (for me that is). I never thought someday I'd have my own horse for a whole ho$t of practical rea$on$, but I am so glad I did :D

I know it's a long way to come, but if you ever find yourself passing through again, you must come to visit :)

Were you riding at the barn you were working at a while ago? (I can't remember now) Any way of working something out with them? Even DH notices how happy and relaxed I am when I get home from the barn, can't stop smiling :)

Oh goodness, no...the barn I was working at only had minis. There were horses there smaller than Wizzy.

4 hours isn't all THAT far. I've been thinking it would be nice to get out that way again!

When I hit my goal weight, I'm going to saddle up a rented horse and go on a trail ride. :)

If you guys do, please please let me know! Don't forget I have furnished suites nearby (many are pet friendly!) and I'd be happy to have you guys - let's touch base if you think a trip to the Toronto area is in your future! :D
