Poor doggies have been spending the last couple of hours vocally letting me know how happy they are to be outta that place!

Moonie's calmed down, Butchie wants to play play play - managing pretty well to toss things around in spite of the e-collar. They shaved a large area of his flank and back to get the cyst out. When the e-collar was off momentarily, he went straight to biting at it. Poor dog, the tip of his curled tail ends right where that wound is. Maybe he needs pajamas. And he hasn't given me a chance to look at his neutering area yet!

Poor Moonie, I finally ferreted it out from the discharge-staff who had not worked on her and from the written records that she had had three other extractions in addition to the abcess. :( Two were front lower incisors that were very crowded. The chart entry about the abcessed one is confusing and I will have to call tomorrow to speak to the tech who did the work. The chart seems to say that a piece of the root broke off and couldn't be retrieved and [so?] was pushed up into the sinus cavity. So is it stuck there forever? That doesn't sound very healthy. Moonie didn't get any take-home antibiotics, so I am concerned about what that all means. She was very, very thirsty. Not sure if she's hungry--the food is soaking now.

Anyway, a few more recovery vibes would be appreciated!

They settled down after a few hours and were good overnight. But what a chorus this morning! They were ready for their food long before it had soaked up enough water. And now after it has been consumed, poor (vocal) Annie doesn't seem to understand that if Moonie doesn't get cookies, nobody gets cookies.

It rained a bit overnight, and despite my best efforts, Moonie's incision area got a little wet. I blotted it off with tissues. I scalded all the dog bed covers and blankets yesterday. Don't know what more I can do. I'll just send her some no-baterial growth vibes!

Poor Moonie! {{}} Dental work sucks!

And poor Annie, I too wouldn't understand why I wouldn't get my cookie!

Butchie sounds like a typical guy though . . . all nervous about getting neutered but after it's done . . . eh, so what. Hope PJ's help the tail curl thing!

Thanks--he's being quite a live wire at the moment. I had to perform a squeaker-ectomy on a toy I bought him because it is causing Annie to lose her marbles. That leaves Charlie as the only calm and well behaved one. That's a switch. :))

I decided against the pajamas for Butchie--I think that would be constant irritation instead of just when his tail hits that area. And his tail is pretty soft. They used glue rather than sutures--maybe that makes it less vulnerable to infection. It looks creepy--I don't think the margins are very close together, so I think he'll have quite a scar, but it doesn't look inflamed or anything. He wants to play very hard, and he turned the new bed I'd bought for him into a giant toy, dragging it around the room. :D He did settle down after I brought Annie into that part of the house for the evening. I'm not sure if he was just tuckered out by then or if her presence calmed him down. :)

Moonie is being a good little patient, although I'm sure she feels way under par. I have several onesies that I put on her for going outside. But she really doesn't want to go outside much, even normally. She's tolerating e-collar well, can drink with it on, but has difficulty eating. When I've had it off, she hasn't shown any signs of messing with the incision. It looks like metal sutures--maybe less irritating?

I talked to the dental technician about Moonie's procedures and was reassured about the piece of tooth and that she did get antibiotic while there and that should be sufficient. But she described Moonie's mouth as "interesting"--and it sounds like she'll need frequent care.

ETA: Butchie liked the toy even without the squeaker.
